Facebook No Longer Best Place To Work | The Guardian Nigeria Newspaper


Facebook has dropped in its ranking as the best place to work, renowned job site Glassdoor has stated.
The social network which ranked as number one in 2018 has dropped to number 7 in 2019 in the job site’s 100 best places to work.

This year sees one tech company add to the 28 tech companies listed in 2018. Google ranks eight, LinkedIn six, Microsoft 34, and Apple 71. Other tech companies include HP (87) which retains a spot in the Glassdoor’s list.
The top spot on the list this year goes to management consulting firm, Bain & Company. This will make it the fourth time that Bain & Company is number one. It held the position in 2014, 2014 and 2017 and has been on the list since its inception.

The social network has found itself in several controversies in recent times including election meddling and the Cambridge Analytica scandal which led to the misuse of 87 million Facebook users accounts. Its troubles caused a drop of about 20% in one day which saw it lose more than $119 billion for the first time in the U.S. stock market history.

Moreso, some of its employees had said there is a “black people problem.” Besides this, a growing number of employees are reaching out to people to ask about jobs outside the company.

While employees gave Facebook a 4.6 out of 5 rating for its benefits, it got a 3.8 rating for the work-life balance as workers are made to work extra time, in the night and weekends.
